Randomized controlled trial of multi‐modular motion‐assisted memory desensitization and reconsolidation (3MDR) for male military veterans with treatment‐resistant post‐traumatic stress disorder
Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica Jul 01, 2020
Bisson JI, van Deursen R, Hannigan B, et al. - Researchers investigated the potential efficacy of multi‐modular motion‐assisted memory desensitization and reprocessing (3MDR) in British military veterans with treatment‐resistant service‐related PTSD via performing an exploratory single‐blind, randomized, parallel arm, cross‐over controlled trial with nested process evaluation to determine fidelity, adherence and factors that influence outcome. Participants were 42 male with 83% retention at 12 weeks and 86% at 26 weeks. Symptoms reduced in male military veterans with treatment‐resistant PTSD after undergoing 3MDR. Most but not all participants well tolerated 3MDR. Improvements following 3MDR remained maintained at 3‐month follow‐up.
