Randomized controlled study comparing disposable negative-pressure wound therapy with standard care in bilateral breast reduction mammoplasty evaluating surgical site complications and scar quality
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Feb 21, 2018
Tanaydin V, et al. - Researchers performed a randomized controlled study comparing disposable negative-pressure wound therapy with standard care in bilateral breast reduction mammoplasty evaluating surgical site complications and scar quality. Patients here served as their own control and received negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) to one breast and fixation strips to the other breast. In this study, the NPWT-treated sites showed less complications and a significant improvement in quality of scarring. The results thereby suggest NPWT as an attractive option for these patients.
