Radiotherapy improves the survival of patients with extensive-disease small-cell lung cancer: A propensity score matched analysis of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database
Cancer Management and Research Dec 06, 2018
Zhang R, et al. - Researchers sought the survival advantage of radiotherapy for patients with extensive-disease small-cell lung cancer (ED-SCLC) via analyzing stage IV SCLC patients enrolled from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registry through January 2010 and December 2012. As per outcomes, radiotherapy could significantly improve the overall survival and cancer-specific survival for thoracic lesion and any metastatic sites except for brain metastasis. This suggests the addition of radiotherapy to chemotherapy as valuable for improving the survival of patients with metastatic ED-SCLC.
