Radiotherapy after surgery has significant survival benefits for patients with triple-negative breast cancer
Cancer Medicine Mar 06, 2019
Yao Y, et al. - From 2010 to 2014, the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database were analyzed to examine the importance of radiotherapy on the survival of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cases after surgery. They observed a larger proportion of tumor size <2.0 cm (45.8% vs 38.8%) and chemotherapy (82.5% vs 67.4%) as compared to those who did not receive radiotherapy. Age 40-60 years, married status, white and other race, chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery were correlated with better survival in univariate Cox analysis of breast cancer-specific survival (BCSS). They found an association of receipt of radiotherapy with improved BCSS, after adjusting for confounding factors by multivariable Cox regression analysis.
