Radiosurgery alone is associated with favorable outcomes for brain metastases from small-cell lung cancer
Lung Cancer Apr 05, 2018
Robin TP, et al. - The impact of upfront stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) vs upfront whole-brain radiation therapy (WBRT) ± SRS on overall survival (OS) of patients with brain metastases (BM) arising from small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) was determined, utilizing the National Cancer Database (NCDB). Researchers believed this is the largest dataset of patients treated with SRS alone for SCLC. SRS alone provided a favorable overall survival. This finding suggested that SRS alone may be appropriate for some patients with SCLC. These results were confirmed in propensity score matching (PSM) analysis.
