Radiofrequency ablation vs surgery for perivascular hepatocellular carcinoma: Propensity score analyses of long-term outcomes
Journal of Hepatology Mar 13, 2018
Lee S, et al. - A comparative assessment of surgical resection (SR) with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as first-line treatment in patients with perivascular hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was conducted. Furthermore, the long-term outcomes of both therapies was determined. The corresponding overall survival (OS) rates at 5 and 10 years were 93.5% and 91.9% in the SR group and 82.3% and 74.1% in the RFA group, respectively. Data demonstrated better long-term tumor control and OS following SR than RFA in patients with small perivascular HCCs, particularly for periportal tumors.
