Radioembolization vs bland embolization for hepatic metastases from small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors: Short-term results of a randomized clinical trial
World Journal of Surgery Jan 29, 2018
Elf AK, et al. - Researchers performed this randomized study to assess the relative therapeutic response and safety after radioembolization (RE) and bland hepatic arterial embolization (HAE). In addition, they investigated early therapy-induced changes with diffusion-weighted MRI (DWI-MRI). After 3 months, HAE resulted in significantly higher RECIST response. However, after 6 months no difference remained. For the treatment of liver metastases from small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NET), results supported the safety profile of HAE.
