Radical prostatectomy, external beam radiotherapy, or external beam radiotherapy with brachytherapy boost and disease progression and mortality in patients with Gleason score 9-10 prostate cancer
JAMA Mar 15, 2018
Kishan AU, et al. - A comparative analysis was carried out of the clinical outcomes of patients with Gleason score 9-10 prostate cancer after definitive treatment in order to determine a difference in prostate cancer–specific mortality and distant metastasis associated with extremely dose-escalated radiotherapy, external beam radiotherapy (EBRT), or radical prostatectomy (RP). Findings shed light on the connection between EBRT+brachytherapy boost (BT) therapy with androgen deprivation therapy and significantly better prostate cancer–specific mortality and longer time to distant metastasis when compared to EBRT with androgen deprivation therapy or with RP among patients with Gleason score 9-10 prostate cancer.
