Radiation treatment for ewing sarcoma family of tumors in adult patients: A single institution’s experience over 40 years
American Journal of Clinical Oncology May 01, 2019
Kharod SM, et al. - Patients 18 years old and above with nonmetastatic Ewing sarcoma treated with radiotherapy +/− chemotherapy or surgery were reviewed in order to report prognostic factors and long-term outcomes in these adults treated with definitive radiotherapy. Radiotherapy was done in fifty-five patients (21 women). Outcomes revealed similar treatment outcomes in adult patients with Ewing sarcoma regardless of age at diagnosis. Researchers identified soft tissue extension as a poor prognostic factor. The highest overall and cause-specific survival were achieved with aggressive trimodality therapy.
