Radiation exposure and attributable cancer risk in patients with esophageal atresia

Yousef Y, et al. - An analysis was performed to assess the radiological procedures performed on patients with esophageal atresia (EA) and determine their cumulative radiation exposure and attributable lifetime cancer mortality risk. Exposure to significant amounts of radiation was noted in children with EA along with an increased estimated cumulative cancer mortality risk. Efforts ought to be made to eliminate superfluous imaging.
