Radial subluxation in relation to hand strength and radiographic severity in trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Jul 20, 2018
Riordan E, et al. - Authors gauged the relationship between joint laxity and osteoarthritis severity, using the trapeziometacarpal subluxation ratio as an indicator of joint laxity. With increasing disease severity, radial subluxation ratios decreased which was contrary to the progression from a normal joint to one with mild osteoarthritis, wherein a risk factor for disease was higher joint laxity. Mechanical stabilization provided by osteophytes and capsular changes in worsening osteoarthritis explained this, as has been shown to be the case in the knee.
