Quantitative methylation analysis of human papillomavirus 16L1 gene reveals potential biomarker for cervical cancer progression
Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease Sep 01, 2017
Chaiwongkot A, et al. – In this paper, researchers sought to define the HPV16 L1 gene methylation changes among cervical lesions from normal to cancerous lesions. They realized strong correlation of HPV16 L1 gene methylation at CpG 5600 with cancerous lesion, followed by CpG 5609. Observations thus suggested that HPV16 L1 gene methylation at specific sites could be used as a prognostic biomarker for cervical cancer progression.
