Quantitative evaluation of subchondral bone microarchitecture in knee osteoarthritis using 3T MRI

BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Dec 01, 2017

Liu C, et al. - Researchers, herein, used 3T magnetic resonance imaging to evaluate the subchondral bone microstructural features in two femoral condyles of human knee osteoarthritis (OA). As per findings, early OA could more sensitively be revealed by deterioration in the trabecular bone structure in both femoral condyles. Data also indicated that bone volume fraction could serve as a better biomarker to assess OA severity.
