Quantitative evaluation of hard exudates in diabetic macular edema after short-term intravitreal triamcinolone, dexamethasone implant or bevacizumab injections

BMC Ophthalmology Oct 08, 2017

Shin YU, et al. - A quantitative comparison was executed of the short-term hard exudates (HEs) alteration in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) after intravitreal triamcinolone, dexamethasone implant or bevacizumab injections. A marked reduction was brought to light of the HEs through the intravitreal steroids (triamcinolone, dexamethasone implants), in DME patients on short-term follow-up. In contrast, intravitreal bevacizumab did not cause reduction. Hence, it was deduced that the intravitreal steroids could be beneficial in DME with HEs in the fovea.
