Quantitative computed tomography features and clinical manifestations associated with the extent of bronchiectasis in patients with moderate-to-severe COPD

International Journal of COPD May 10, 2018

Bak SH, et al. - Using the cohort of COPD in Dusty Areas (CODA), researchers identified the quantitative computed tomography (CT) features and clinical values to determine the extent of bronchiectasis in moderate-to-severe COPD patients. For this study, 127 moderate-to-severe COPD patients were chosen. They reported that moderate-to-severe bronchiectasis was related to a history of pulmonary tuberculosis, lower body mass index (BMI), severe airflow obstruction, and lower bronchodilator reversibility (BDR) in moderate-to-severe COPD patients. Furthermore, quantitative analysis of CT revealed that severe air trapping was related to the extent of bronchiectasis in patients with moderate-to-severe COPD.
