The Journal of Pain Apr 03, 2018
van Vliet J, et al. - By means of four questionnaires and quantitative sensory testing, researchers assessed qualitative and quantitative aspects of pain in myotonic dystrophy type 2 (DM2). Outcomes indicated pain as a frequent and important symptom in patients with DM2, affecting quality of life. These patients also showed mechanical hyperalgesia. A role of peripheral mechanisms of pain is suggested in DM2. Compared to fibromyalgia, central sensitization is at least less pronounced in DM2.
