Quadriceps strengthening with and without blood flow restriction in the treatment of patellofemoral pain: A double-blind randomised trial
British Journal of Sports Medicine Aug 11, 2017
Giles L, et al. – This research determined the efficacy of quadriceps strengthening with and without blood flow restriction (BFR) in the treatment of patellofemoral pain (PFP). The findings revealed that low load with BFR caused a greater reduction in pain with daily living, at 8 weeks, in people with PFP than with standard quadriceps strengthening. Similar improvements were discovered between groups in worst pain and Kujala score. This study brought to light larger improvements in quadriceps strength from BFR, in the subgroup with painful resisted knee extension.
