Quadriceps function and knee joint ultrasonography following ACL reconstruction
Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise Oct 12, 2017
Pamukoff DN, et al. - A comparative assessment was executed of the ultrasonography of femoral cartilage between the injured and uninjured limbs of individuals with unilateral anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Additionally, it inspected the tie-up between quadriceps function and ultrasonographic measures of femoral cartilage. Thinner cartilage was determined in the injured limbs of individuals with ACLR compared to uninjured limb. The cartilage thickness exhibited a correlation with quadriceps function. Hence, it was deduced that ultrasonography could be beneficial for monitoring the cartilage health and osteoarthritis (OA) progression following ACLR.
