QTc prolongation as a marker of 30-day serious outcomes in older patients with syncope presenting to the Emergency Department
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Jul 19, 2018
White JL, et al. - Researchers assessed if increasingly prolonged QTc intervals are linked to 30-day serious outcomes in older adults presenting to the ED with syncope via a secondary analysis of a prospective, observational study. Study participants were adults 60 years or older who presented to 11 emergency departments with syncope or near syncope. Analyzing the study cohort of 2,609 patients, researchers identified that increased QTc interval was a marker, but was not independently predictive, of composite 30-day serious outcomes.
