qSOFA score: Predictive validity in Enterobacteriaceae bloodstream infections
Journal of Critical Care Sep 12, 2017
Burnham JP, et al. - This study assessed the predictive validity of the quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) in patients with Enterobacteriaceae sepsis who all received appropriate initial antimicrobial therapy. For prognostication during initial clinical evaluation in sepsis patients, the bedside use of qSOFA score, altered mental status (AMS), and sepsis severity was accepted and supported. Furthermore, it was indicated that appropriate initial antimicrobial therapy was not a confounder for mortality when using qSOFA for prognostication because qSOFA retained its predictive validity in this cohort.
