Pylorus resection does not reduce delayed gastric emptying after partial pancreatoduodenectomy: A blinded randomized controlled trial (PROPP Study, DRKS00004191)
Annals of Surgery May 12, 2018
Hackert T, et al. - Researchers aimed at determining the effect of pylorus resection on postoperative delayed gastric emptying (DGE) after partial pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) in this randomized controlled trial. Outcomes suggested no reduction in the incidence or severity of DGE with pylorus resection during PD. The development of DGE appeared to be multifactorial rather than attributable to pyloric dysfunction alone. Thus they recommend pylorus preservation to remain the standard of care in PD.
