Pulmonary mucormycosis: Radiologic features at presentation and over time
American Journal of Roentgenology Mar 12, 2018
Hammer MM, et al. - The CT and MRI characteristics of pulmonary mucormycosis in patients with definite or probable mucormycosis were determined. In patients with mucormycosis, large nodules or consolidations with an associated reverse halo sign or large perilesional ground-glass halos appeared to be a common occurrence. Lesions exhibited a tendency to illustrate a peripheral predominance, and a perivascular ground-glass focus preceded nodular lesions in some cases. It was shown that the imaging features evolved to demonstrate a multifocal pneumonia pattern, and this pattern correlates with a high mortality rate in certain patients with severe disease.
