Pulmonary function testing with tidal breath analyze technique is useful in predicting persistant small airway damage in infants with acute bronchiolitis
Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Sep 20, 2020
Çelik E, et al. - In this prospective cross‐sectional study involving 111 infants [61 with acute bronchiolitis (AB) and 50 healthy controls] aged 1 month‐2 years, researchers sought to examine breathing parameters by using tidal breath analysis (TBA) technique in hospitalized infants with the first‐time AB. Lung function was evaluated utilizing TBA technique on the first day of hospitalization and repeated at the 7th and 30th days after the treatment. Due to the long-lasting process of restoring pulmonary function dynamics in the lower respiratory tract, TBA is a useful and simple tool for infant pulmonary function and can help clinicians predict persistent small airway damage.
