Pulmonary function in former very low birth weight preterm infants in the first year of life

de Melo Miranda Goncalves D, et al. - This investigation was carried out to evaluate pulmonary function in very-low-birth-weight preterm infants at 6–12 months of corrected age. Furthermore, the factors associated with abnormal pulmonary function were also analyzed. A high prevalence of abnormal pulmonary function and lower pulmonary function was noted among preterms vs term infants. The factors that were found to be related to abnormal pulmonary function included prematurity, intrauterine growth restriction, respiratory support and recurrent wheezing.
