PTEN-targeting co-expressed miRNAs and ACTN4-targeting miR-548b are independent prognostic biomarkers in human squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue

International Journal of Cancer Aug 11, 2017

Berania I et al. – The prognostic value and oncogenic pathways associated to miRNA expression in squamous cell carcinoma of the oral tongue were determined in the current study. Specifically, bioinformatics analysis identified PTEN and ACTN4 as direct targets.

Methods

  • MiRNA screening in 58 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue was performed.

Results

  • Expression of miR-548b and miR-18a were independent prognostic markers for squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.
