Psychometric properties of an abbreviated version of the Apathy Evaluation Scale (AES-12PD) for Parkinson's disease
The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry Jul 05, 2018
Stankevich Y, et al. - Researchers sought to validate an abbreviated version of the Apathy Evaluation Scale (AES) for use in Parkinson's disease (PD). They reduced the AES to 2/3 length and tested it to ultimately facilitate the application of AES in PD (AES-12PD). They used a sample of 170 PD patients without dementia and depression for this purpose. Findings corroborated that AES-12PD has a high internal consistency and good discriminant validity. The AES-12PD could be applied in PD patients with and without dementia and depression for attaining a reliable as well as an efficient assessment of apathy in these subjects.
