Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations Sep 09, 2017
Pastore AL, et al. Â This cross-sectional study was performed to evaluate psychological distress in uro-oncological patients undergoing different surgeries: radical cystectomy, radical prostatectomy, radical nephrectomy, or transurethral resection (TUR) before the surgery. Accumulated evidence suggested that in patients undergoing surgery for urological cancer, sex, tumor type, and surgical approach were significantly related to psychological distress. A higher level of anxiety was observed in females and patients with kidney tumor and patients undergoing radical nephrectomy. In addition, patients with radical cystectomy showed a higher level of State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI)-State compared with other surgeries.
