Psychiatric comorbidity and intimate partner violence among women who inject drugs in Europe: A cross-sectional study

Tirado-Munoz J, et al. - This cross-sectional study was performed to define the prevalence of psychiatric comorbidity and intimate partrner violence (IPV). Furthermore, the researchers aimed to evaluate the factors associated with psychiatric comorbidity among women who inject drugs (WWID) recruited from drug treatment services (67%) and harm reduction services in 5 European regions in Austria, Catalonia, Italy, Poland, and Scotland. Among WWID, psychiatric comorbidity and IPV were common. In order to improve treatment outcomes, drug treatment and harm reduction services ought to address psychiatric comorbidity and IPV.
