PSCA expression is associated with favorable tumor features and reduced PSA recurrence in operated prostate cancer
BMC Cancer Jun 08, 2018
Heinrich MC, et al. - Researchers investigated the role of Prostate Stem Cell Antigen (PSCA) expression with respect to prognosis in prostate cancer. They used immunohistochemistry to analyze a tissue microarray containing 13,665 prostate cancers. They found that a statistical association with TMPRSS2:ERG fusion status, chromosomal deletion or high tumor cell proliferation was lacking, which disputes a major role of PSCA for regulation of cell cycle or genomic integrity. An association of PSCA expression with favorable prognosis was demonstrated. The inclusion of PSCA measurement in multi-parametric prognostic prostate cancer tests was recommended.
