Proximal left anterior descending artery treatment using a bioresorbable polymer coating sirolimus-eluting stent: Real-world outcomes from the multicenter prospective e-Ultimaster registry
Journal of the American Heart Association Dec 09, 2019
Codner P, Saada M, Sakhov O, et al. - Researchers performed this analysis of the e-Ultimaster registry to define clinical results of patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention in the proximal left anterior descending (LAD) segment vs nonproximal LAD angioplasty, using a thin-strut drug-eluting stent. In order to adjust for disparities among the groups, they used multivariate analysis and propensity score. Target lesion failure, defined as a composite of cardiac death, target-lesion–related myocardial infarction, and/or clinically driven target lesion revascularization at 1-year follow-up, was the primary outcome. Following propensity-weighted adjustment, no difference was noted in target lesion failure between the groups. Target lesion failure was not independently predicted by proximal LAD treatment in multivariate analysis. Findings revealed similar clinical results in patients at 1-year follow-up, this was found independent of stenting location, questioning if proximal LAD treatment should be considered differently from stenting in any other coronary artery territory.
