Prostatic artery embolization for benign prostatic obstruction: Assessment of safety and efficacy

Christidis D, et al. - The safety and effectiveness of prostatic artery embolization (PAE) as a new treatment in benign prostatic obstruction (BPO) were evaluated in this review. Authors also gauged the risks surrounding the performance of PAE. PAE was not without the risk of complications, some of which could notably affect the quality of life of the patients, regardless of the selection of candidates favorable for procedural success. In improving symptom and quality-of-life scores, the initial findings demonstrated to be promising regarding safety and efficacy of PAE.
