Prospective study of germline genetic testing in incident cases of pancreatic adenocarcinoma
Cancer Aug 12, 2018
Brand R, et al. - In individuals with newly diagnosed pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) enrolled in this multicenter cohort study, researchers determined the prevalence of pathogenic germline variants (PGVs) in 32 cancer susceptibility genes and assessed how often PGVs would have been undetected with existing genetic testing criteria. They reported a significant prevalence of PGVs associated with PDAC. Also, they found that, for the selection of patients for genetic testing, the current paradigms have limitations. They recommended universal germline multigene genetic testing in this population.
