Prospective randomized study of conversion from tacrolimus to cyclosporine A to improve glucose metabolism in patients with posttransplant diabetes mellitus after renal transplantation

Wissing KM, et al. - Researchers performed a multi-center, investigator-driven, prospective, randomized study to assess whether conversion from tacrolimus to cyclosporine A can reverse posttransplant diabetes (PTDM) after renal transplantation. They observed a significant improvement in glucose metabolism on replacing tacrolimus with cyclosporine, suggesting its potential to reverse diabetes during the first year after conversion.
