Prospective multicenter study of the esophageal triamcinolone acetonide-filling method in patients with subcircumferential esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection
Digestive Endoscopy Sep 22, 2019
Shibagaki K, Yuki T, Taniguchi H, et al. - Since the esophageal triamcinolone acetonide (TA)-filling method is a novel local approach for prevention of stenosis after extensive esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), researchers conducted this prospective, multicenter trial to assess this method after subcircumferential ESD. The study sample consisted of 20 patients with esophageal cancer requiring subcircumferential ESD. Esophageal TA filling with follow-up endoscopy every 2 weeks was performed 1 day and 1 week after ESD. Data reported that severe stenosis incidence was 5.0% and treated with three EBDs. After subcircumferential ESD, the esophageal TA-filling method prevented stenosis. Grade ≥ 2 resection exhibited a high risk for stenosis, but stenosis progression was inhibited by additional TA filling for mild stenosis.
