Prospective multicenter phase II-study on focal therapy (hemiablation) of the prostate with high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU)
The Journal of Urology Nov 01, 2017
Ganzer R, et al. - The goal of this paper was to probe into the focal therapy (FT) by means of high-intensity focussed ultrasound (HIFU) hemiablation in a prospective trial. The treatment with FT hemiablation was discovered to be safe with little alterations of functional outcome. An acceptable oncologic outcome was disclosed during the short-term follow-up. The performance of follow-up multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) was poor and hence was not recommended as a replacement of repeat-biopsy. FT did not exert any effect on the post-treatment anxiety and depression.
