Prospective evaluation of associations between cancer-related pain and perineural invasion in patients with resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma
Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery Aug 22, 2017
Carr RA, et al. – The experts undertook this study to understand the associations between preoperative pain and perineural invasion in patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma. In patients with resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma, the preoperative pain did not predict the presence of perineural invasion or other pathologic prognostic factors. In pancreatic head cancers, higher pain scores correlated with the absence of perineural invasion and early cancer stage. The effects of preoperative pain on quality and interference of daily life warranted further study in larger prospective studies involving patients with pancreatic cancer.
