Prospective, double-blind randomized study of comparison of analgesic efficacy of parenteral paracetamol and diclofenac for postoperative pain relief
Journal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology Jul 02, 2019
Shah UD, et al. - Randomly recruited 120 patients who underwent elective surgery under general anesthesia were randomized into two groups (paracetamol group and (diclofenac group) by the experts in order to determine the analgesic efficiency and safety of IV paracetamol in comparison with IV diclofenac for postoperative pain relief. No statistically significant difference could be observed in terms of mean age, weight, American Society of Anaesthesiologists grade, gender distribution, duration of surgery, and type of surgeries. For postoperative pain relief, both IV paracetamol and IV diclofenac were sufficient. With no overall differences among groups, a few minor and common adverse events were recorded. Hence, in order to administer analgesia through the IV route in the postoperative period without any major marked side effects, both paracetamol and diclofenac drugs were recognized as harmless.
