Prospective assessment of a nasopharyngeal carcinoma risk score in a population undergoing screening
International Journal of Cancer Dec 11, 2020
Chen GH, Liu Z, Ji MF, et al. - Researchers conducted this prospective study to validate an Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV)‐based nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) risk score in an endemic population undergoing screening for NPC. This research was part of an ongoing NPC screening trial in Southern China, which started in 2008, with 51,235 adult participants. In total, 151 NPC cases were detected in 2008‐2016. In a high‐risk population, the authors externally validated the discriminatory precision of a previously developed EBV‐score. NPC prediction has not been improved by incorporating non-viral risk factors.
