Prospective analysis of serious cardiorespiratory events in children during ophthalmic artery chemotherapy for retinoblastoma under a deep standardized anesthesia
Paediatric Anaesthesia Dec 08, 2017
Nghe MC, et al. - Regarding the impact of deep general anesthesia on serious cardiorespiratory events in children during ophthalmic artery chemotherapy for retinoblastoma, it was demonstrated in this study that standardized deep anesthesia with analgesia did not appear to confer protection against the development of serious cardiorespiratory events, which otherwise occur commonly during super selective ophthalmic artery chemotherapy. With no predictive factors, systematical emergence of these events was reported within 2 minutes after ophthalmic artery catheter insertion. Anesthetists and neuroradiologists should be prepared to manage these serious complications and parents should be informed of the risks.
