Proneurotensin predicts cardiovascular disease in an elderly population
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism Jun 19, 2018
Fawad A, et al. - Experts explored whether proneurotensin predicts cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes development in an elderly population as well as gender differences in this respect. For this analysis, fasting proneurotensin was measured in plasma from 4,804 members (mean age 69 ± 6 years) of the Malmö Preventive Project and then followed up for development of CVD and diabetes during 5.4 years. Findings revealed that, in an elderly population, proneurotensin independently predicted development of CVD in both genders, however, it only predicted diabetes in women.
