Promoter hypermethylation in plasma-derived cell-free DNA as a prognostic marker for pancreatic adenocarcinoma staging
International Journal of Cancer Sep 08, 2017
Henriksen SD et al. - In the current study, cell-free DNA promoter hypermethylation was shown to be a blood-based prognostic marker for pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
Methods
Methylation-specific PCR of 28 genes was performed in plasma samples from 95 patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
Results
The mean number of hypermethylated genes was identical for stages I, II, and III disease (7.09, 7.00, and 6.77, respectively), and significantly different from stage IV disease (10.24).
