PROMIS global-10 performs poorly relative to legacy shoulder instruments in patients undergoing total shoulder arthroplasty for glenohumeral arthritis.
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Nov 24, 2020
Bido J, Sullivan SW, Carr JB, et al. - This study was intended to correlate PROMIS Global-10 and legacy shoulder specific patient- reported outcome measures (PROMs) in patients undergoing total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) for shoulder arthritis. Researchers designed a retrospective cohort study including patients who had undergone TSA for shoulder arthritis and completed preoperative and 1-year postoperative surveys. The analysis included a total of 170 patients. It was shown that in patients following TSA, PROMIS Global-10 had limited correlation with legacy PROMs and was less responsive at 1-year follow-up. The results demonstrated that Global-10 appears to have limited utility in the evaluation of patients with shoulder arthritis both preoperatively and after TSA.
