Projected 20- and 30-year outcomes for pediatric liver transplant recipients in the United States
Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Mar 05, 2020
Bowring MG, Massie AB, Chu NM, et al. - Using national registry data and parametric models, researchers sought to project 20- and 30-year posttransplant outcomes for recently transplanted pediatric liver transplant (LT) recipients. Using 1987 to 2018 Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients data, they carried out a retrospective cohort study of 13,442 first-time pediatric (age < 18) LT recipients. According to findings, projected long-term results are excellent for recently transplanted pediatric LT recipients representing substantial improvements in medical care, and are useful in the current era for physician-patient education and decision making.
