Progressive changes in the major salivary gland after radioiodine therapy for differentiated thyroid cancer: A single-center retrospective ultrasound cohort study

Huang, Chen Y, Pan L, et al. - The present study was performed to ascertain the prevalence of radioiodine-induced salivary gland damage by evaluating progressive changes in salivary glands using ultrasound. Researchers retrospectively examined a total of 446 patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma who had undergone total or near-total thyroidectomy and postoperative radioiodine therapy. This study’s findings demonstrate that ultrasound changes appeared late, and most of these changes were not reversed.
