Hou H, et al. - In patients with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), authors compared the rates of visual field (VF) loss and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thinning in primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). Notably slower RNFL thinning rates were demonstrated in POAG patients with treated type 2 DM, who did not present with any detectable diabetic retinopathy when compared to those without diagnosed DM.
