Prognostic values of LDH and CRP in cervical cancer
OncoTargets and Therapy Feb 17, 2020
Wang H, et al. - With the background knowledge that cervical cancer represents one of the deadliest tumors in females in China, and C-reactive protein (CRP) as well as lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) both have crucial roles in tumor growth and metastasis, researchers undertook this study with patients categorized as high LDH and CRP group, high LDH group, high CRP group, and low LDH and CRP group, based on pre-radiotherapy LDH and CRP median levels. Furthermore, classification of patients was done on the basis of pre-/post-radiotherapy LDH and CRP ratios: high LDH and CRP ratio group, high LDH ratio group, high CRP ratio group, and low LDH and CRP ratio group. To demonstrate overall survival (OS), Kaplan–Meier curves were created. They explored independent risk factors by using a multivariate Cox regression model. They noted the worst OS in correlation with high pre-radiotherapy LDH and CRP levels and increased pre-/post-radiotherapy LDH and CRP ratios vs the other three groups. Overall, in this study, the correlation of LDH and CRP with outcomes was evident among patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.
