Prognostic value of visfatin in various human malignancies: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Cytokine Jan 10, 2020
Mohammadi M, et al. - In order to assess the prognostic influence of visfatin in cancer patients, researchers undertook this first comprehensive meta-analysis of 14 eligible studies including 1,616 patients identified from health-related electronic databases explored systematically up to May 2019. Pooling findings revealed a significant link of high visfatin expression with poorer overall survival. The correlation of elevated visfatin level with positive lymph node metastasis, positive distance metastasis, advanced tumor stage, and larger tumor size was also revealed. According to meta-results, changed visfatin expression was identified as a potential indicator of poor clinical results in tumor patients. This indicates the possible role of high visfatin expression as a potential biomarker of poor prognosis and metastasis in cancers.
