Prognostic value of the preoperative neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio in patients with sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma
Cancer Management and Research Nov 25, 2019
Zhong B, et al. - In order to determine the efficacy of a novel inflammatory prognostic system, wherein the prediction of postoperative survival rate of patients with sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SSCC) was done using preoperative neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), researchers performed this study with 147 SSCC patients who received surgical treatment without neoadjuvant therapy. For overall survival, the independent risk factors were pathological T stage, pathological N stage, and preoperative NLR, as revealed in the multivariate analysis. Independent link of pathological T stage, pathological N stage, and preoperative NLR, with disease-free survival, was also identified. For disease-specific survival, the identified independent risk factors were pathological T stage, pathological N stage, and preoperative NLR. Experts viewed preoperative NLR as a valuable predictor of postoperative survival in SSCC patients.
