Prognostic value of sarcopenia in lung cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Chest Jun 02, 2019
Yang M, et al. - By analyzing evidence from 13 studies with 1,810 participants, researchers assessed the prognostic ability of sarcopenia in lung cancer via this systematic review. The analyzed studies were identified from Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and included retrospective or prospective cohort studies. Findings revealed approximately one in two patients with lung cancer had sarcopenia, which is a high prevalence. In patients with small cell lung cancer or with different stages of non-small cell lung cancer, impaired overall survival was significantly predicted by sarcopenia.
