Prognostic value of pretreatment neutrophil count in metastatic renal cell carcinoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Cancer Management and Research Jun 14, 2019
Shen J, et al. - Researchers analyzed 13 studies involving 3,021 patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC), to assess the prognostic value of pretreatment neutrophil count in mRCC cases. These studies were identified from PubMed, Web of Science and Embase and reported the link between pretreatment neutrophil count and mRCC prognosis. A worse overall survival and progression-free survival were reported in relation to an elevated pretreatment neutrophil count. In the subgroups of cut-off value, ethnicity, treatment method and analysis type, a statistically significant link was evident between pretreatment neutrophil count and survival. Findings revealed a link between pretreatment neutrophil count and mRCC outcomes. For prognosis monitoring in these patients, it is valid to use pretreatment neutrophil count as a valuable inflammatory marker.
